About Me
Welcome to my portfolio! I'm Jorge Martinez, a proud graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, earned in December 2024. I'm currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in IT Management at Western Governors University, expected in May 2026, while seeking my next opportunity in IT.
During my academic journey, I delved into key coursework like algorithms and data structures, artificial intelligence, systems programming, and software engineering. This strong foundation, paired with practical experience, has honed my skills in languages including Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript, COBOL, and SQL, plus web development, database management, and network technologies.
In my recent role as IT Specialist at Bluewing Midstream (September 2024–November 2025), I delivered hands-on support for 50+ users, troubleshooting desktops and networks while documenting systems for compliance. I managed infrastructure across a 25+ acre facility for reliable operations and deployed an automation tool that cut truck weigh-in bottlenecks, lifting efficiency by 35%.
Earlier, as a Mainframe Systems Intern at Ensono (May–August 2024), I gained expertise in IBM technologies like COBOL, TSO, and database automation. As Software Modernization Intern there (May–August 2023), I led QA testing and issue resolution during migrations. From 2018–2023 at Valley Municipal Water District, I built and maintained their website with modern tools, boosting traffic 47% and slashing downtime 15%.
Driven by tech and growth, I'm skilled in object-oriented programming, version control, cloud services, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and Agile/Scrum. I excel in team settings that foster innovation.
